Vicar's Notes
The church does not exist for its own sake, rather it is to serve the purposes of God and proclaim by word and action the Good News of Jesus Christ.
At the heart of this Gospel is the message of reconciliation. It is our conviction that it is this message that is so needful for our world today. We need to begin with the restoration of mankind's relationship with God. We are spiritual beings and unless we are in relationship with God we cannot be whole. There is a resurgence in interest in spiritual things, and we believe that it is only as we look to Jesus, his life, death and resurrection, that we will find true spiritual wholeness. If our lives are in the right relationship with God then by His Spirit we can begin to find a peace in our inner being.
Christianity was never meant to be solely a personalised, internalised religion; rather it is to have an impact in the local, national and international communities. Our world is torn about by strife; there is a desperate need for peace and justice. God's plan is for mankind to be reconciled with each other, it is to bring healing where relationships have broken down and it is to bring hope where humanly speaking in this life, there is no hope.
At Christ Church it is our prayer that we will live out and proclaim this message of reconciliation, we may do so falteringly, we make many mistakes along the way, but by God's grace we will seek to continue to do what we believe God has called us to.
